I created Lake Effect Sports around this new(OLD) sport of ski-shoeing as it really opens up the opportunity for more fun and exploration in our long, snowy winters here on Georgian Bay. I've tried snowshoeing. It's fun to be out exploring, but it's slow, alot of work and lacks the excitement of downhill. I've tried x-country skiing. While it gives you a great workout and decent speed, it is usually dependent on a track and club fees. Ski-Shoeing is the best of both worlds in my opinion. It gives you the climbing ability of snowshoes with the downhill fun of skis. It gives you the freedom to explore your 'backyard' terrain and get into all that good snow! Once on them, I'm sure you will see what I mean. After trying them for the first time a friend said:
As a dealer for Altai Skis I supply new and sometimes used skis. For people new to the sport, the best thing is to 'try before you buy'. I have a few pair of demo skis and can get you out on them locally around the Midland area. Note: Demos are on hold during CO-VID.
In the future I plan on bringing other winter sport alternatives to the area via Lake Effect Sports. We usually get a long winter and the best way to get through it is to get outside and enjoy it!
